Castle Rock Lake
and Petenwell Lake
Castle Rock Lake is Wisconsin’s 4th largest lake with over 16,000 acres. It is known as the lake “where the action is”, and offers something for everyone. You can get away from the boat traffic and take a leisurely trip to the Petenwell dam and even stop on a sand bar along the way for a picnic. The fishing is excellent with many out of the way areas to avoid the pleasure boaters. There are many great areas to waterski, tube, wakeboard, etc. There are also several beautiful sandy beaches for the public to use. Many, but not all of the lake developments have a 100′ shoreline strip owned by the Wisconsin River Power Company (WRPCO).
Petenwell Lake is Wisconsin’s 2nd largest lake with more than 23,000 acres. It is a great place to “get away from it all”. Sail boaters continue to discover what a great opportunity this lake offers and it has been described by one outdoor magazine as Wisconsin’s “Sleeping Giant”. Petenwell Lake offers great fishing and has more than enough room to maintain all types of boating. This lake offers a noticably quieter vacation experience and the views are second to none. You can also purchase property on this lake for noticeably less than on Castle Rock Lake. Many, but not all of the lake developments have a 100′ shoreline strip owned by the Wisconsin River Power Company (WRPCO).
